For individual visitors, reservations are not mandatory; the museum recommends online ticketing to avoid the queue in high season.
- Groups and schools: reservations required at edu@coopculture.it or tour@coopculture.it, or by calling 06 399 676 00. Maximum 25 people per group, including accompanying persons and guides. Amplifiers are prohibited, earphones allowed.

Access rules: backpacks, luggage and photos
At the entrance you pass through the metal detector and backpacks, trolleys, umbrellas and helmets must be left at the free cloakroom. The MArRC access and visit regulations also include:
- Liquids: bottles of water up to 0.5 litres, baby food and medical products do not enter the room.
- Photos and videos: Permits for personal and study use. Flashes, additional lights, tripods, selfie sticks and drones are prohibited.
- Food and drinks: prohibited along the route.
- Pets: small dogs in their arms or carrier, with a muzzle in tow. Guide dogs are always allowed.
- Minors: under 14 years of age you can only enter accompanied.
Where are the Bronzes in the museum and how to enter the room
The Riace Bronzes are located in the Hall of the Riace and Porticello Bronzes, on the ground floor (level D), at the end of the itinerary. The visit starts from the second floor (level A, At the origins of Calabria) and descends to the ground floor. In the basement, on level E, there is the Hellenistic necropolis.
Entry to the room is restricted to protect the statues. You enter in shifts, with a maximum number of people, after a stop in the filter room, where a system regulates temperature and humidity. The museum does not publish a fixed stop time: follow the instructions of the room staff. In the same room there are the two bronze heads of the wreck of Porticello, the Head of the Philosopher and the Head of Basel.
Two lines of history
The statues were recovered in August 1972 in Riace Marina, at a depth of 8 meters, by Stefano Mariottini. They are Greek warriors from the fifth century BC, almost two meters tall, cast with lost wax. Who they represent remains an open question.
How long does it take to visit the museum
It counts about two hours for the entire museum, including the Bronzes. The regulation estimates the route at about 2 hours; the museum's FAQ indicates an average of an hour and a half for the independent visit. On busy days, add the wait in front of the Bronze Room.
When there are more people at the Museum of Reggio Calabria
The busiest days are free Sundays, holiday weekends and the month of August. In 2025, the museum exceeded 260,000 visitors, with the peak in August: 48,197 admissions in one month.
- Long weekend of 25 April 2023: 8,601 admissions in four days, of which 5,462 on the free day of 25 April alone.
- After Ferragosto 2023: 10,035 admissions from 16 to 19 August.
- Spring 2026: 1,675 visitors on April 25 and 5,269 from May 1 to 3.
To wait less in front of the Hall of Bronzes, choose a weekday outside of July and August and enter when it opens.
Museum accessibility
The MArRC has a platform at the entrance and lifts for all exhibition levels. At the ticket office there is a video guide in LIS; for the blind and visually impaired, the museum indicates tactile material and audio guides, to be requested in advance. The necropolis can be visited with the assistance of the staff. For the Bronze Room, the regulation recommends reporting those with specific needs at the ticket office.
