All climate data are 1991-2020 averages.

When to go to Reggio Calabria: the choice based on what you want to do

  • City, museum and promenade on foot: March, April, May, October and November, with highs between 17 and 25 °C.

Why it is better to leave outside from July and August

Calabria is the Italian region with the most seasonal tourism. This is what the Bank of Italy writes in the June 2026 report The Economy of Calabria : in 2024, 85% of overnight stays were concentrated between June and September and 58.8% in July and August alone. Over 90% of overnight stays took place in seaside municipalities.

The province of Reggio is the one with the lowest tourist density in the region: 1.0 presences per inhabitant in 2024, compared to 4.4 for the Calabrian average. In spring and autumn, flows are lower: the seafront, Scilla and the museum are visited with fewer people around.
